Is it worthwhile?

Talk about a question that is wide open! 🙂
Anyway, I was thinking about boxed sets – are they boxed sets though? Or are they an omnibus?
I created two ‘boxed sets’ for the Veronica Tracey Spy/PI series – two books each. Quite fun to make really. I suppose I should do the same for the next two books (5 and 6). But is it worthwhile or is it just something that’s fun for me to create and a distraction from writing the writing of book 7?
It costs me nothing to create boxed sets – but they don’t exactly fly off the shelves. Does anyone even know they exist? I seriously doubt it. But there ya go.

It’s kinda tempting to scrap the first two and start again. The FBI-Byte Series has three books in each boxed set plus a short story and intros. The VT books are just kinda there with no extras. The thing is I do have extras I could add.
There’s another thing I could do regarding the VT Series … and that’s a map of all the places mentioned and used for various things. A walking tour of Upper Hutt?
Something I’ve thought about on and off but not done anything about it mostly because I’m always writing the next book. Such is life.

Thoughts on either topic are welcome.

  1. I’ve thought of boxed sets, too, Cath. I’ve got five Joel Williams novels and I could see doing something with that for a set. But you ask the right question about whether it’s worth it. Does that increase sales? More importantly, does it gin up interest in books? I don’t know, honestly, but you’re not the only one who thinks about that. I do like the idea of a map – that is cool! I have zero artistic ability, so I’d have to use technology for it if I did that, but it sounds like fun.
