First up, tell us a bit about yourself.
I was born in Holland, and able to read from an early age. I loved books from the early beginnings, and as a teenager wrote short stories for a magazine. Sadly none of my stories were ever accepted, but I vowed that one day I will write my very own book!
It took a while, life interfered, but to date I have written ten books. Some are children’s books because I love cartooning. Some are fantasy, because I also love fantasy. And some are women’s fiction because the writing ideas that pop into my head fall under this category.
Favourite genre/s to read or write?
No favourite genre, any good story will do.
Please tell us about your latest work.
My latest work is currently in edit mode, and sadly has been in that mode for the last six months. It is the story of a young woman who has the gift, or curse, of clairsentience. Something about the story doesn’t feel right (yet), and I need time to sit down and have a good, long look at it.
Have you ever tried homemade ANZAC biscuits?
I have, and they were yum!
Who is your favourite main character?
My favourite character is Tara from my book Life Through A Rose. She is smart, sassy and tenacious, all the qualities I like.
- Would you go on holiday them? Absolutely
- Would you let them pet sit at your house? Tara loves animals, so yes
- Are they someone you’d go shopping with? I hate shopping, so no
- What would they be like at a nightclub? Tara and I are too old for those shenanigans
- Are they a series character? Not at this stage
What’s a hobby or skill one of your characters has that you wish you could master?
Saying the right thing at the right time.
What’s one piece of advice your protagonist would give to readers in real life?
Don’t wait for the perfect day to start living your life
Have you ever put an Easter egg or hidden reference in one of your books? If so, what’s your favourite?
No
What’s the weirdest or most surprising place you’ve found inspiration for a story?
The dentist. He was good looking and kind, and my brain made a mental note to include him somewhere
What’s the strangest piece of research you’ve done for your writing?
I researched clairsentience for my latest non-book. Try it, it takes you down a surprising number of rabbit holes.
Have you eaten pavlova?
Yes, I eat anything that is edible
If you could collaborate on a book with any author, living or dead, who would it be and what would you write about?
Stephen King, and I would write about life in general. Because that is a horror story on its own
I grew up with the term Waikikamukau to denote rural small towns or out of the way places. (Sometimes also described as the wop wops.) What term do you use?
Gamadoolas
Dogs, cats, guinea pigs, or some other type of pet?
I have one cat, Selena. She is 15 years old but still going strong
If your writing space could magically transform into any location, real or fictional, where would you choose to work?
On the beach below waving palm trees. With a willing man on hand to bring me my drinks

Thank you for coming along and being such a good sport!

I really respect people who can write in different genres. That takes skill and flexibility. And my hat is off to people who can write books that draw children to reading. It’s a gift to share books with others. Wishing you much success!
