Bloody hell it was not easy dragging this story over the finish line. I didn't think I'd even get close for at least another week. I kinda thought yesterday I was getting close but I still didn't expect to finish this week and certainly didn't expect it to be today. So hooray! It's a complete first … Continue reading Scattered on Cloth

Author Interrogations: Terri Osborn
Kia ora,Big Upper Hutt welcome for this author. She’s someone I’ve known for a while. She came to my writing group years ago. And often came by the bookshop for a coffee (I make good coffee). She even did a stint as my editor once upon a time. Let’s get into those questions: Who are … Continue reading Author Interrogations: Terri Osborn
Rain drops keep falling
Last week was a big week for me. I finished the first and second drafts [Indigo Romeo Lima]. Little thing you need to know ... first, second, third, however many drafts are the same file. No one re-writes the entire manuscript. It's one file. It'll be one file until it's gone through editing and all … Continue reading Rain drops keep falling
The process
This morning I was looking at the [Indigo Romeo lima] file, sitting there at almost 82K, wondering where the hell this story is going. 🙂 That's a normal state of affairs for me. I never really know how something is going to play out. Won't really tell you too much about it because I don't … Continue reading The process
You ain’t seen nothing yet.
I had a plan this weekend. It was an ambitious plan but I think it had potential. What my plan didn't take into account was just how cunning my mind is when it's not on board with the plan! Instead of dragging [Indigo Romeo Lima] over the imaginary finish line like I had planned, I … Continue reading You ain’t seen nothing yet.
What day is it?
Sometimes you need to know the day of the week or time of day. When you're writing a novel continuity is everything. You can't have a character cracking on about the moonless night while also dribbling about the brightness of the sun. You can, but, not all at once. Take a break, let your characters … Continue reading What day is it?
All mouth, No trousers.
I'm writing. [Indigo Romeo Lima] is moving along. I'm enjoying it, mostly. Why mostly? Because first-drafts are HARD. I'm not building on anything, I'm creating the foundations and the framing and cladding some of the walls. Some walls will be left in building paper while I write the rest and hope it all comes together! … Continue reading All mouth, No trousers.
Of course!
Seriously, don't know why it didn't immediately occur to me that someone was asking about Databyte when they asked about 'my book'. 🙂 Maybe because it was foremost in my mind in 2014 when it launched? Currently I'm writing the sixth book in a entirely different series set in the same universe (and it annoys … Continue reading Of course!
Digital marketers?
They seem to be the vacuum cleaner salesmen of the publishing industry. If you don't know what kind of person used to sell vacuum cleaners think car sales person on steroids. They play on insecurities and convince people they need whatever the fuck they are selling and generally whatever it is bears a hefty price … Continue reading Digital marketers?
Old Time Rock & Roll
This is one of those 'if you know you know' blog titles. Could've been 'Against the Wind' but not today. Anywho, a lot of words happening at the moment. [IRL] is moving quite quickly but still too slow for my liking. It's that annoying thing ... I can see it and want to write it … Continue reading Old Time Rock & Roll
