Hey ho silver lining.

I’ve been writing quite a bit lately. [FFS] is coming along nicely. I had to go back and write three new chapters in the beginning to satisfy my gut feeling that it didn’t start early enough and add a few other things that I knew I needed to mention, early. I did that. It works far better now – for me. We’ll see how much sense it makes when it gets to Admin Bex in a few months. 🙂
I’ve got about half the story to write yet … yes, I need to get on with it and I am.

In other news: This weekend is a Ngaio Marsh event at Upper Hutt Library. I will be there along with Trish McCormack, Benedict Collins, and PD McShane. I have some questions in a little green notebook – let’s all hope I don’t forget it as I’m the ‘chair’ this year.
You’ll also hear a bit about my entry to the Ngaio Marsh Awards – [Foxtrot Mike Lima]. I’m hoping I don’t forget to take a copy! I’m in the same situation I was at the launch of [Indigo Romeo Lima] … but worse, I suppose, because [FML] was released LAST year which means I wrote it the year before! Since then I’ve written and launched [IRL] and two novellas, and I am also now in the midst of writing [FFS]. Do I remember all the wee details and interesting bits and bobs in [FML]? Probably not. Maybe I’ll watch my trailer

Anywho, I very much liked the sound of ‘The Minerva Agenda’ by PD McShane so I bought it last night and started reading. (I mean, come on, CIA and M16 … what’s not to like?)
You know how I tend to end up with books I use as teaching tools because they’re awful? Well, not this time! I’m enjoying ‘The Minerva Agenda’ and I think I’ll be grabbing myself a signed copy on Saturday for my shelf of preciousness.

(I’m enjoying the break from drivel that had me scratching my head and wondering who the actual fuck thought it was good and wondering where the five-star reviews come from – clearly not from people who had read the book I abandoned two days ago.)

Right, I need to get back to [FFS], these stories don’t write themselves. 🙂

  1. It’s nice to have a book you’re enjoying reading, isn’t it? I hope you have a great event; it sounds like a lot of fun. Oh, and about books you’ve written a while ago? That sort of thing has happened to me, too. Once I’m a few books ahead of a certain book, I have to remind myself of some of the events in the book…

    • It’s gets quite tricky recalling all our work, doesn’t it? 🙂 🙂 What a problem to have.
I am looking forward to the event. They usually a lot of fun. One day perhaps you can come along to one!
