This weekend has been FRUSTRATING as hell.
It’s not a new reason. It’s the same old Amazon reason that I’ve had for at least two years.
Thing is … in April when they declared the couldn’t deliver to my address I managed to get someone in chat who knew what was going on and who fixed it. And voila I received my proofs of [Whiskey Tango Foxtrot] … but, that seems to have been an anomaly.
Yesterday I ordered some copies of [Whiskey Tango Foxtrot] because I need to build up some stock of the Kiwi books before the August 4th launch event. And again they cannot deliver to my address. AGAIN.
Now, the very very annoying thing is that the person would not listen. They kept saying “actually there is a reason” and then would proceed to tell me they can’t deliver danger goods to my address, or alcohol to the Northern Territory or any dry zones. WTF?
Not sure how that was relevant to New Zealand.
The person told me to use a different address.
Jokes on her, because I tried that last time and it doesn’t matter what NZ address it is, they won’t deliver this title.
She would not acknowledge that this happens with every new title of mine for the last 2 years and that I have contacted them numerous times to get this sorted.
She would not acknowledge how very upset I was. (I wasn’t rude, at all, ever. To be clear, I was in tears.)
She would not find someone who could fix it.
She persistently told me it was a KDP problem and I’d have to talk to them.
When I said there is no KDP option for this query because it’s a CART problem she went radio silent for about five minutes.
It took fifteen minutes before she would get a manager to help.
Did that help?
Nope.
I still can’t get [Whiskey Tango Foxtrot] delivered to me.
They still don’t seem to understand that it’s ridiculous when I can order and get delivered ALL my other books. The address doesn’t change in-between times. I haven’t up and moved.
Now the really dumb thing: Before [Leave a message] was released, I wanted a proof copy. Guess what? They couldn’t deliver to my address. Back to trying to get someone to listen! But two days later they could deliver?
Then when I ordered the author copies, I couldn’t get them delivered.
Back to square one!
Two days later, by magic, I could suddenly get those books delivered.
Great, I thought. It’s fixed.
Then when Written in Leaves launched, I was back there again unable to get copies.
Two days later, by magic, I could suddenly get those books delivered.
Then in April I wanted a proof of [Whiskey Tango Foxtrot] and you know how that went.
And here I am again, frustrated to the point of tears because they fix nothing and treat me like an idiot and try to blame me.
Of course, according to them, I could just get a new address … or hey, they could fix it.
Yeah. Don’t hold your breath.
Meanwhile, I have a headache and just want my copies of [Whiskey Tango Foxtrot]. I could just order some of the other kiwi books and get the stock up on them for now, I guess.

Ugh! That sounds like an absolute nightmare, Cat! I don’t understand what the big problem is – really I don’t. It’s books, for goodness’ sake, not hazmats! I really hope you get it sorted.
It’s just so unnecessary – the problem is them and they refuse to accept that and fix it!
I really don’t think emigrating to Aussie is a good way to solve the problem and the help desk people clearly are not in Australia, like you’d think they would be! (Although … I wouldn’t mind living in Perth!!)
To get over this bad headache how about using my address which is xxxxxxxx Trentham, Upper Hutt. 5018 and I’ll message/phone on arrival. How’s that suit you?
Edited your details out, John!
It doesn’t matter what address it is, it’s NZ that is the issue. I have tried other addresses in the past and it’s a NZ problem not an address problem.
I think I will go to Copywrite or Unique Design & Print in Lower Hutt, both have proved good. Alcohol/Northern Territory/dry zones. definitely WTF
Perhaps the need AI as their customer service chat consultants 🙂 Good luck!
