If you write like I do and the end rushes towards you, there isn’t much choice but to write and keep writing until the finish line. Because I never know what the finish line looks like, that bit is a lot of fun for me. Probably the most fun of the initial first draft phase.
I wondered if I’d be writing The End this weekend. And I did at about midday today. What did I do after that? I gave Robbie a hug and walked home while my brain decompressed.
Even though it’s a complete first draft, there are tweaks to be made and whatnot. None of it’s big stuff and it’s not a now problem. It’s a next week problem.
Now is downtime.
Now is letting the story settle.
Now is nothing intense.
It’s always a good feeling to finish a story. This one came in at just over 98K and 53 chapters. Brian brain is tired.
It’s a lot. Writing a novel, is a lot.
I am rather pleased that Brian brain got on with it and didn’t react badly to the workload, as it increased.
I did finish my Moleskine notebook that I used during the writing of [Indigo Delta Kilo]. I think there’s half a page without writing all over it. 🙂 It did its job.
It’s nice to breathe.
It always feels like there isn’t any room for breathing when the end looms. It’s all consuming.
Anywho, the book now exists with a beginning, middle, and end. Just the way it should be. 🙂
I might go have a tequila.
Here’s the roses I bought myself last week. 🙂
