There’s a warm wind blowing …

We are one-step closer to the physical launch of [Foxtrot Mike Lima]. Would’ve been nicer if the courier hadn’t jammed a parcel that really was a bit big, rigid, and hard to grab into the letterbox. Instructions were clear on the bag “Leave by front door” … had a feeling they’d take the easy road rather than open and shut a gate.
It’s fine, I’ll deal with the increase in McWristy pain which today is not fun. McWristy’s sister has decided to join the fun. Clearly, she’s a dick.
Still breathing.
Still dancing around the room while typing and drinking my coffee (Magic radio definitely helps).
I did get the jammed up parcel out of the letterbox and it’s 3 useful objects of joy for the prize packs at the [Foxtrot Mike Lima] launch on June 21st. I shall say no more about said objects.

The subscription doohickey on Facebook is finally working! Yay.

I’ve spent a lot of time with the [FML] manuscript over the last few days. I thought I’d have a look for my favourite words. We all have them. Mine vary depending on the story. As it turned out, “smile/smiled” won. That is not the easiest word to replace so I did a lot of deleting. 🙂 🙂
No need for my characters to be that freaking happy.
There was far too much grinning and laughing for my liking, they were also severely pruned. I allowed 43 smiles to survive, in a book that is 103k (plus change) that seemed a good number.
It was time-consuming and pain-inducing but it’s done now.

Then yesterday (or was it the day before?) I went back to the first page and tweaked things that irked me.

In other news:
I removed the pre-order from Amazon. The book is still able to be pre-ordered just not from Amazon. There were a lot of reasons behind that decision but it mostly boils down to Amazon trying to control authors with their grabby greedy hands and I’m not okay with that.
So, pre-order by all means but do it via Apple, Google, Draft2Digital, Kobo, Smashwords, all the other places just not Amazon. Here’s a universal link to help you. [Foxtrot Mike Lima] pre-order.

I am moving closer to loading final files. It’s rather exciting. I’m toying with the idea of getting another proof because it’s far easier for me to see things in print than in a digital file.

Here’s Dallas delaying the changing of my sheets yesterday:

  1. Ah, yes, those final steps to a manuscript! I’m almost at that point myself. I really hope your launch goes fabulously. As for McWristy & Co., they need to be muzzled or something. I mean, don’t they know who you are? They should! Oh, and Dallas looks adorable in that photo. Nice of her to eventually let you make the bed for her and Diesel…
