It might be summer.

Today might be summer. Can’t vouch for tomorrow and it definitely was not summer yesterday. Such fun. Every day we play ‘guess the season’ in the valley.

In other news, the first round of edits are done. Now I know why my lovely editor refers to [IRL] as ‘the one with all the hyphens’. I have never used so many hyphenated words! And also, I did not realise that so many words needed hyphens when used together. I did rewrite a few sentences to try and get away from some of the hyphens. It probably wasn’t successful.
Hyphens are the thing this time. Not a favourite word but hyphens!
I sent the ms back to my editor yesterday. Hyphens and commas are all over the show, I doubt there is a page without hyphenated words!

I also needed to adjust Emily’s speech because in a lot of the story she is stressed and therefore would revert back to not using contractions. And I had left far too many contractions in play. That’s sorted. We learn a lot about Emily in [Indigo Romeo Lima] but there is so much more to know.

I’m about ready to dive back into [Foxtrot Foxtrot Sierra] … it’s on my mind and that’s a good indication that I’m almost ready to get back to work.
Feels nice knowing I don’t have any ‘Fates Entwined’ stories to niggle at me, and therefore I won’t feel guilty or as if I should be working on two stories at once. It’s not that successful (for me). One story always wins. This time it’s straightforward. Fates Entwined is finished and out there in the world. I can get back to Ronnie’s world. (& Ben, Donald, Enzo, Crockett, Nana, Emily, Jenn and Steph.)
Right then. I’m going to go read all the words I have written in [FFS] so far and see what’s going on there. I haven’t looked at it for quite a while. No doubt it’ll be a horror show.

Be kind to each other.

  1. Sounds like you got some good input back on [IRL]. I’m also really glad we get to know Emily a little better in that book. She’s a fascinating character, and I’m really enjoying watching her come into her own a bit. And of course, the characters and their relationships are such a big part of the series.
