Politics kills. Secrets kill faster. And in this town, both have a habit of getting personal.

I didn’t set out to write a political thriller. I set out to tell a story about people doing their jobs, keeping their families safe, and trying to make sense of the mess in front of them.

Somewhere along the way, it stopped behaving.

Now there’s a mayoral race where nobody is exactly who they appear to be, and Ronnie—who isn’t even on the ballot—is very much in the middle of it.

That’s usually where things go wrong.
