Another look at AI …

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook then you might have seen me say I would share another bio that ChatGPT wrote for me. And I will.
Early this evening I had some fun with ChatGPT and got it to write bios for me and for my buddy Pete.
We’re both pretty sure that the ChatGPT version of us make a lot more money than we do.
Whatever, right? It was fun and it is fun.
The danger will come later when this sort of thing makes people question who they are or the lines blur so much we don’t recognise the real us anymore.
Ready for some AI fun?

Here we go:
The question … “Write a 2-paragraph bio for crime thriller author Cat Connor”
Simple, right?
Same question as yesterday.

Cat Connor is a New Zealand-born crime thriller author with a passion for storytelling and an eye for detail. She has a background in law enforcement and brings her unique experience to her writing, creating vivid and authentic portrayals of crime and investigation.
After completing her studies, Cat worked in various roles within law enforcement, including as a detective, intelligence analyst, and trainer. Her expertise in these areas informs her writing and brings a level of realism to her stories that captivates readers.
Cat is the author of the popular “Ellie Iverson” series, featuring a tough and determined FBI agent who solves complex cases with intelligence and skill. The series has gained a loyal following, with readers eagerly anticipating each new installment.
In addition to her writing, Cat is also an accomplished public speaker and has appeared at numerous events and conferences. She is a sought-after expert in her field and is frequently asked to comment on law enforcement and crime-related issues.
With a sharp mind and a passion for storytelling, Cat Connor is a force to be reckoned with in the world of crime thriller writing. Her books are gripping, engaging, and impossible to put down, making her one of the most exciting authors in the genre today.

And then there is this version:

Cat Connor is a prolific crime thriller author hailing from New Zealand. Her expertise in the genre is reflected in her engaging and suspenseful narratives, which have garnered a loyal following. Her work is known for its intricate plots, dynamic characters, and relentless pace, keeping readers on the edge of their seats until the very end. She has authored multiple books, including the popular “Byte” series, which follows the exploits of an FBI unit that investigates cybercrime.
Cat’s passion for crime and espionage is evident in her writing, as she strives to create a world that is both authentic and thrilling. Her meticulous attention to detail and extensive research have won her critical acclaim and accolades from readers and peers alike. In addition to writing, Cat is a sought-after speaker on topics related to writing, publishing, and cybersecurity. Her talks are known for their candidness, humor, and practical advice. With her unique blend of talent, expertise, and passion, Cat Connor has established herself as one of the most exciting and accomplished authors in the crime thriller genre.

If you’ve read any of the Byte Series you know it’s a series about serial crime more than it is cyber crime but there’s tech in them all.
Neither bio was touched by me. They are exactly how ChatGPT spat them out.
So what’s real?
It’s starting to feel like the premise of Databyte where information became misinformation and it was hard for anyone to know what to believe even when they saw it for themselves.

Where does the truth lie?
What is the source of these claims?
Will people even care down the track when these sorts of bios are floating around in cyberspace being quoted as truth?
Fascinating isn’t it?
Not at all scary …

Dallas playing with fire!
