Counting down …

I love a countdown. I really do. The countdown I have presently is my favourite sort. It’s not a book release it’s entirely for me. My Knight will be home for a holiday soon. It’s the best countdown ever and the shortest we’ve had. So hooray!

This week just got busy, especially Wednesday. Appointments all day. But, they’re for the good of my sanity and wrist. I had an appointment at the High School as well on Wednesday but I cannot be everywhere at once. This year has been all about Doris’s illness and appointments around Health School and Doctors but if I can’t control pain then everything falls apart. I have had to leave home before she’s up quite a few times over the last four months because I need my wrist to function but it’s hard not being there to help her. Parent guilt is real.

Anywho, moving right along.
Yesterday I wrote an unexpected thousand words after a brief conversation. Hopefully, the thousand hold enough backstory to give people a better idea of who Mitch is and why Mitch is doing what he’s doing.
It wasn’t the easiest piece to write because it shines a light on something I didn’t think I would ever revisit. Funny how things happen and how everything is connected.

Now if sales would grow (to be honest any growth would be amazing because they cannot get worse, everything has turned to shit in that department), and then maybe I’ll be have more enthusiasm by the time [Foxtrot Mike Lima] goes to my editor and we get to pick a launch day (sometime in 2024). Two months of utter shite sales wise makes it difficult to bother. The demise of Twitter is hard.
I did run 2 FB ads but got nowhere so that was interesting. Not in a good way.

Remember the post about the book I am reading and how the characters are constantly climbing on and off chairs, brewing everything, and generally being awful. It’s getting worse. I didn’t think that was possible, but it is, it’s like watching a train wreck … I can’t stop reading because I cannot believe how atrocious this story is. The characters are ridiculous and do ridiculous things and it’s getting worse by the page and by the book, I’m reading the 3rd I think, hard to tell. I’m disappointed in myself for still trying to read the rubbish.
HOW the actual fuck does drivel like that get anywhere when well edited intelligent stories get nowhere? What’s the secret?

On that note I shall go plant the seedlings I’ve raised and hope they grow!

  1. Oh, I’ve read books like that, Cat – books that are so bad you can’t stop reading them, for some reason. I think you’re right that you need to make your health a priority. You can’t be the parent (sibling, friend, etc..) that you want to be if you don’t. I’m looking forward to what you write about Mitch!
