Hello there!
I’ve not been on social media much since Thursday evening nor have I been here. We caught the 2am ferry on Friday and now we’re in Christchurch. Such fun. Besties together again, is ALWAYS fun.
1. [Foxtrot Mike Tango] is still with my editor. I’ve had one text to say she was intrigued.
2. I played with a copy of the file and did a quick format (had to guess the margins but I’ve done it so many times I suspect I’m not far out). I wanted to find out how many pages there were so I could get on with the cover. It’s 500 pages.
3. There was cover nonsense yesterday (or maybe the day before) with the knowledge that I didn’t have a cover template for a 500 page book I created one. Then I messed around with the image (that hasn’t changed, it’s still passports) and moved things a bit.
4. Amazon ads were a bust. I won’t be doing that again. Pretty sure I had the same shit result last time I tried them. I found a note to myself about that.
5. There is a Facebook ad running, I think, and that might be more useful. Still nothing to see sales wise though.
6. What else? I created a reel for [FML] but haven’t posted it yet. Also created some graphics and haven’t posted them either. It’s not time.
7. Pretty sure I have done other things but cannot recall what!
8. Still reading that awful book. I’m now treating it as a comedy. Get this for a line ‘they lay against the house’ … did they really? How does one lie against a house when the person is standing? Why not just say leant? The author is still laying cups on tables and climbing on chairs. Why am I still reading it? My own laziness but also a bit of morbid curiosity. It’s like a train wreck and I can’t look away. It gets worse by the chapter.
9. That’s about it really.
10. Go buy a book 🙂

I’m so glad you’re enjoying your time in Christchurch, Cat! I’m glad your editor is working on [Foxtrot Mike Lima]; I’ll excited to have it drop so everyone can see it’s a great story. And as for the novel you’re reading now – yikes! If the plot is anything like that bit of writing, I can only imagine how hard it’ll be to finish it!
That book I’m reading … I keep hoping it will get better. I don’t believe it ever met an editor or a beta reader. The plot could’ve made a halfway decent story if it weren’t for the dreadful writing. 🙂
