Long skirts …

I know, that is an odd title. Might just be because I’m wearing a long summery skirt or there could be more to it.
It’s summer here. Shorts are called for most of the time. For years I’ve worn cut-offs and not summer shorts and it is way too humid these days for denim. Usually if I have to leave the house I wear jeans. But it’s so hot and sticky.
So, I got some summery shorts … and my legs look like I’ve been beaten with a heavy object. Luckily, I also got myself a long summery skirt. That my friends, covers the bruises. They are not from anything more than my inability to judge distance. Turns out having my bed in the exact same spot of ten years doesn’t stop me from walking into it … not just one corner, oh no, it’s best to have even bruises and walk into both corners at the bottom of my bed. They’re fairly even although one of the bruises on my left leg has a bruise on a bruise because I am super special like that.
It’s obviously gotten worse – I can tell by the sheer number of bruises. My legs are often sporting deep nasty looking bruises but no one can see them in the winter but it’s usually only one or two not six. Six is a little excessive.

In other less violent news … I’m slowly working on [IRL] which is next year’s Veronica Tracey Spy/PI novel. Most of the scenes are written in longhand in my notebook at this point, with only around 3k actually written in the MS. I’ll get there.
Perhaps I’ll get all the things that distract me and drive me nuts sorted first. That would make sense. We’ll see how that goes.
Sort of half-arsed thinking about setting a launch date for [Foxtrot Mike Lima]. I want a date in June, so we’ll see how that goes. You’d think it’d be a bit early being January but it’s not. Time just fucking goes.
Pretty sure I wanted to have the second of the ‘Fates Entwined’ novellas finished by now. I have not done that. I haven’t even opened the file in weeks. Guess I’ll add that to the list of shit that needs doing. 🙂

From next week my Wednesday’s are full and that will probably spill over into “can’t do much” on the following day or days, depending how my wrist copes with the Wednesdays. Not fun, but there ya go.

On that lovely cheerful note, I shall bugger off and get ready for today’s appointment with Doris.

Feel free to go and buy my books so I can keep spending all my money at the Doctors! 🙂

  1. Sorry to hear about the bruising and the furniture. I’ve broken both of my little toes by bumping into furniture – ugh! I like the idea of long skirts. Does that make you a long, cool woman in a black…skirt? 😉 At any rate, I hope you get through all the stuff you need to tend to, so you can get back to [IRL] and your other writing. I know just what you mean about needing to plan ahead for a launch, too – there are a million things to do!

    • I too have broken toes on furniture! It’s not fun!
I laughed at the long, cool woman comment … knew I should’ve gotten a black skirt!! (Although not very summer friendly!)

Launches definitely take forethought and planning.

      🙂
