Mahau and Christchurch

You might have noticed I’ve been a bit quiet since [Lure the lie] launched … well, that’s because I’m away with My Knight in the South Island. We left Wellington before the COVID infected visitor went everywhere he could possibly go in Wellington. 🙂
We’ve been south for a wee while and are heading back home on Tuesday. This is our last night in Christchurch. Been a marvellous trip really. Much fun had staying at Chrissy’s and visiting all My Knight’s family. Of course it wasn’t quite a holiday and a lot of jobs were done while we’ve been away.
Here’s a couple of things for you to be going on with while you wait for normal service to resume. 🙂

[Lure the lie] Excerpt:
Romeo and I went into Bateman’s bedroom. I checked the washing basket and pulled out a tee-shirt, underneath which I saw shorts and sports socks. “This is promising,” I said to Romeo.
With the tee-shirt in my hand, I took the dog outside and over to the side door of the garage.
The door was open. I peered into the semi-dark interior. I could see a car. “Hey, Crockett?”

Excerpt from Raidbyte: collected short stories from the Byte Series. (Hardback only)
“I was commissioned to do research for a biography of one of the most decorated female FBI agents in the Bureau. You. Can you allow me access to do my job?”
Uh huh. A misguided publicity stunt to try and entice more women into a career that eats lives for breakfast or a publisher who thinks this crap will sell? There are no soiled blue dresses in my closet. I’ve just got a few medals and whatnot shoveled into my bottom drawer. That’s not what my work life is about.
“It’s still my life and I will talk about the parts I feel are relevant.”
