Just give me a reason …

Hey, how are ya?
Sincerely hoping you said good or fine or something positive. ๐Ÿ™‚

I just got tagged in an article/story/whatever about me. It never gets old. You might think so shortly though because the link is going EVERYWHERE. I kid you not!

When people talk about me, I find it quite strange because their rendition of events doesn’t match mine.
The reason is … because I’m looking outward from me and that’s not their perspective. (I’m pretty sure no one wants a front row seat to my brain.)
I’m talking about something I wrote and therefore know very well whereas they’re hearing about it from me for (potentially) the first time.
Also, I’m never sure what I’m saying (yeah, I have notes but I still don’t know half the time!).
This time around I felt hobbled. I’ve always been someone who talks with her hands. I do a lot of waving about and whatnot. But I couldn’t this time because one hand was actually hobbled by an exo-skeleton/brace and the other held my notebook … that poor notebook, it did it’s absolute best to keep me on topic! I wasn’t able to move like I usually do so it felt odd. Or I felt odd. Not sure which.

I did discover that our lovely Mayor talks with his hands too. ๐Ÿ™‚ I hadn’t noticed that before but it could’ve been because he was quite thrilled about having to do a bit of research about hyperthymesia. And like me, he was fascinated by it. It would be hard not to find the topic interesting or at least, we think so!

People have told me previously that I’m quite entertaining when I talk about my work but they could’ve just been saying that to be nice. I pretty much just hope that I grab their attention, don’t sound like an idiot, people don’t fall asleep, and that everyone has a good time.

I may not be the best judge of me but I do know I enjoy being in front of a group of people and talking about writing. Guess that’s why I enjoy teaching crime writing so much. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. It really is interesting to think about how you come off to others, and what they say when they talk about you talking, isn’t it, Cat? It’s funny about gestures. I use them, too, and it’s always interesting to see how they look when I’m teaching my online class or doing my vlog.

    • Not everyone talks like we do with gestures. I find that odd. Do those people never bash their hands on furniture that’s suddenly too close? ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
Having another perspective of what I think it went like is fascinating (and apparently it all went a lot better than I imagined!) Was I even there?? ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
PS: I love watching you speak because your hands get in there like mine do! ๐Ÿ™‚
