She lied to the FBI.

I am tired.
Really tired.
Was trying to read that book (we’ve talked about it before) but it’s driving me crazy. When I read, I see images and video. I don’t see words I see what the words create. And I love reading, except sometimes when an author does something really silly and I see the image the words create … like that book when the author kept lying cups on the table and climbing onto chairs. I couldn’t get away from the images his words created. (Yes, I saw cups lying down, tea and coffee spilled everywhere and dripping off the table and people standing on chairs for no reason.) I’m pretty sure that’s not what he meant but that was what his words created.

So this book (Argylle) hasn’t done anything like spill tea or have everyone standing on chairs around a table, it’s just not giving me images. There is a lot of exposition. Not much dialogue. I feel like I’m being TOLD the story instead being drawn into it and part of it. It’s not gelling for me. Something is off. I haven’t found a character I like or that interests me, probably because I’m not finding out who they from how they behave or things they say or think. Rather the reader is told who they are.
It’s like a paint by numbers and you have to use the colours they specify.
Flat characters created using too much beige and other neutral colours. It’s an expensive and forgettable book. I’m sure plenty of other people will and do enjoy it. I’m not one of them.

Ellie Conway would wipe the floor with the lot of them.
Would the real Ellie Conway please stand up. 🙂
The whole dragging me into this Argylle nonsense makes even less sense now. So, that’s just fucking confusing.

In other news: We’re closer to a launch day for [Foxtrot Mike Lima]. I haven’t made a decision but we’re definitely closer. 🙂

  1. I’ve read stories like that. They sort of keep you at a distance, in a way, so that you don’t really get drawn in. I know the feeling. Well, at least you know it’s not pirating of your stories, at any rate. Looking forward to your launch date info when you have more of it!
