Thoughtful and sincere …

Honestly, are these scammers ever going to give it a rest?
Every day another crop of idiots with their AI crap is waiting for me. I am tired of it. I really am. It’s not even fun to reply and play with them anymore. Although this morning I got a scammer email offering me $300K for Soundbyte. Now that amused me.

In other news: [Indigo Delta Kilo] passed the first beta reader hurdle. Hooray.
Minimal notes. (That amazed me.)
So now it’s off with my favourite American crime writer (Margot Kinberg) – to give the Americans in the story a tune up. They’re becoming more Kiwi but they’re not fully assimilated yet. 🙂

I’m in that weird limbo place that happens when you finish writing a book. It’s like my brain doesn’t know what to do with itself. I’m pretty sure I wrote a post all about the weirdness when a big body of work is out of my brain and on my MacBook.
I did, the post is here: Writer Trench Coat Syndrome and it’s very real.

The other day, I saw a typo – The the. It happens. I thought I’d found it and sorted it. Readers, I did not!
Last night while I was reading it popped up but it wasn’t The the or the the, it was The The. And I do a find in a manuscript it matches case … so I missed the little fucker. Anywho, now I know and I can track it down. It’s not the end of the world especially in what it essentially a first draft.
I’m sure we’ve talked about that before, how a first draft is in fact the only draft and will eventually be the FINAL file. It’s not like a manuscript gets a complete rewrite. Can you imagine what a pain in the arse it would be to retype the whole bloody thing into a new file? There’s no need for that now that we use computers and not typewriters. I honestly, I don’t think I would’ve become a writer if I had to use a typewriter – they’re far too hard on fingers/hands/wrist. I have used one, because I’m old, so I was taught to type on a typewriter and it was horrendous. Never again.

Let’s hope EMP doesn’t take our electronics out and force us back to old school ways.

Anyway, moving on, I am quite pleased with the story so far. And yes, I am reading it, which sort of breaks a rule of mine. But I need to know what it reads like. You know? All I see when I’m writing is each scene not how it all fits together. And I was curious.

That’s it from me this week.
I’ve got a few things to do.
Ohh, the cover question – bright red won. So, I’ll be using that one. Even though I kinda like the deep red. I really like the grey too. It’s not easy!

Now I need to stop my brain from beginning another story … because it’s thrown up a title and an opening scene.
WTF? Give me a break!

[Bravo Romeo Bravo] in case you were curious as to the title my brain has decided would be great.
