Welcome to Friday.
Turns out I’m getting older and I’m not super thrilled about it. The age thing is okay, I mean, I’m glad I’m not a freaking Zoomer. Imagine?
What’s not okay is arthritis and not being able to do what I’ve always done (and taken for granted). So, today I went looking for arthritis gloves. Yes, they’re a thing. So I’m going to try some with copper in them (yay for Groupon). Using a mouse instead of the trackpad is making my hand a heap worse than it was, faster. Hopefully the gloves will help. We’ll see. Ideally what would help is getting the trackpad fixed but that won’t happen anytime soon. And to be honest, my hand would still be annoying.
I shall let you know if the gloves work once they arrive and I’ve worn them for a bit.
In other news: I’m currently NOT WRITING. This is the longest I’ve ever gone without writing something other than the occasional blog post. I won’t be writing until after the Vaporbyte launch. I just can’t. I need to give this launch my energy and farewell the last 15 years properly. It’s not easy saying goodbye to something that has been a huge part of my life and characters that I thought of as friends. A lot of times, they were the only ones I could count on to always be around.
Writing the Byte Series was my happy place for a very long time.
I need to spend time being thankful for Ellie, Mac, Lee, Sam, Kurt, Caine, Carla, Joey, Owen, Cait, Sean, Dane, Stewart, Tony, Sandra, Rowan, Mitch, Andrews, Grace and Isabella, the Dixon brothers, and every other character who gave these stories a heartbeat and who taught me so much.
It’s not like I don’t know what’s next. Because I do. And I’ve got about a third of my next work written and sitting here waiting for me to be ready to finish it. I originally thought I could jump right in, but, I need to take my time and settle all the crazy feelings around finishing the Byte Series first.
It’s not like the series will disappear, it will not, and I hope new readers will continue to discover it as time goes on, because I really think it’s journey worth taking.
