Can I just …

You all know it was release day on Friday, right?
[Whiskey Tango Foxtrot] is out there in the world fending for itself. Pretty exciting. I think it should be release weekend though, not just day. I mean when something takes nearly a year to write then you’ve got all the editing (and your nobtastic editor) and cover creation and blurb business … the release should not fly by in the blink of an eye. (Might just be my opinion.)
If you haven’t got your copy yet … go on get one, you’re in for a treat!

Anywho, those in the Wellington Region (or those willing to travel to the Wellington Region) get to experience a proper launch party on Aug 4th. Such fun! There will be paperbacks and signing and whatnot. AND CAKE.

This time I thought I’d try something I’d never done before … mirror glaze. What fun!
Today was the day I gave it a whirl.
I had no idea mirror glaze was so easy to make. Seriously. It looks so stunning when you see it on a cake that I figured it must be quite the process. It’s easier than buttercream, way way easier on the hands/wrists than buttercream!
Dear Readers, it is not at all difficult. It is however, messy. (That might be half the fun.)

The struggle for me is what’s underneath the gorgeous mirror glaze. A not so flat surface and shonky buttercreaming. 🙂 Must try harder for the actual cake. A lot harder.
I did have fun with colours today though. And I’ve pretty much figured out what colours and how I want to use them.

Quite tricky taking a photo of mirror glaze. Don’t know what that didn’t occur to me before I tried but there ya go. This is as good a picture as I could get.
